Salman Khan is jointy producing ‘CHILLAR PARTY’

It’s known to all that Salman Khan is jointly producing CHILLAR PARTY along with UTV Spot Boy. He is also part of the several promotional videos of the film. Even at the end of Ranbir Kapoor’s item number, the kids think about going to Salman Khan for an item song. So one is eager to know if he’s also acting in the film.

When we got in touch with co-director Vikas Bahl, he said, ‘Salman is not playing a role in the film. He doesn’t even have an item number in the film. He is just producing the film. Even in the promotional videos, he’s playing the producer.’
Interestingly, Salman was not approached to produce the film. Reveals Vikas, ‘Actually, we never approached Salman Khan to be the producer of the film. I wanted him to see the film because I thought the film had his attitude. The children in the film are not at all calculative and that’s how kids are. Salman is like the kids. I showed him the film purely to get his reaction. It was our luck that he was so overwhelmed and decided to produce the film. It was a smooth ride from then on. And it wasn’t planned at all.’

Speaking about Salman’s involvement in the film, Vikas said, ‘When Salman decided to produce the film, he didn’t ask us to make any changes. We had already made a trailer and wanted him to give his voice for it, which he did. Then we went to him for promos, and he shot them.’

Aamir is going all out for DELHI BELLY

Aamir Khan is going all out for DELHI BELLY and has even turned an item boy for it with the song ‘I hate you like I love you’. However, he maintains that the item song was not done for publicity.

Explains Aamir, ‘My item song in DELHI BELLY was not added because of promotions. It was there in the film because the writer and director felt it needed to be there. The character of Disco Fighter was always there in the script. Whenever we do a film, we don’t add in anything to promote it. We don’t play with our films.’
Does he feel that the film will be affected because of the item number? ‘Yes, the attention will shift momentarily because of my item number. No film can work on an item number. The film has to work in itself,’ says the latest item boy.

Not many people know that Aamir wanted to play Nitin’s character in DELHI BELLY, which was eventually played by Kunaal Roy Kapur.

Sajid-Wajid are continuing to win awards

Sajid-Wajid are continuing to win awards for DABANGG (recently concluded IIFA award being another example) and subsequently their age old association with Salman Khan is continuing in future projects as well. Though they are not composing for BODYGUARD (which has gone to Himesh Reshammiya), Sajid-Wajid would be making music for Salman’s KICK, SHER KHAN, DABANGG 2 as well as NO ENTRY MEIN ENTRY.

“Every movie comes with its own kind of music based on an actor who is cast in it,” reasons Sajid, “A song like Jalwa (WANTED) can work only if it is picturised on Salman bhai. That’s because of the kind of humor that his personality brings in such situation. That can’t really fit in well for any other actor. So when you hear a Salman song, you can immediately say that it has been made for him.”
So while in 2010 their highlight films were DABANGG and VEER, both Salman Khan starrers, the future is only looking better with Sajid Nadiadwala’s HOUSEFULL 2, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ROWDY RATHORE, Priyadarshan’s TEZZ, Kunal Kohli’s next (with Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra) and David Dhavan’s CHASHME BUDDOOR on the anvil.

“We want to work on lesser projects but the ones which are really worthy enough,” adds Sajid, “Even after WANTED there were many projects that came our way but we wanted to pick up only those that were really exciting and important enough. Now again after DABANGG there is a huge rush due to which we had to even leave a few films. But then this is a conscious call that we have taken. We don’t want on work on 20 projects at the same time. It isn’t that we can’t do it. It is just that at the end of the day your life is more important. One should enjoy that as well.”

karishma kapoor is returning to films

Karishma Kapoor is returning to films after a hiatus.

The actress has signed Vikram Bhatt’s next 3D venture DANGEROUS ISHQ, a supernatural thriller. Karisma was last seen in MERE JEEVAN SAATHI that released in 2006.
Says a source, ‘Lolo never really announced her retirement even after her marriage to industrialist Sanjay Kapur in 2003. Despite being busy with her domestic life and subsequent motherhood (daughter Samaira was born in 2005, son Kiaan Raj in 2010), Karisma has always had film offers. She has remained in circulation by signing many endorsements but has now finally given the nod to Vikram Bhatt’s film. Vikram announced this 3D venture after his film HAUNTED 3D was a success at the box office.’

Says Vikram, ‘When I first gave Karisma a narration, she loved the story and the script. It’s a woman-centric film and she plays the main character. DANGEROUS ISHQ is a supernatural thriller based on past-life regression. We start shooting in September in Rajasthan.’

When contacted Karisma says, ‘It’s a role I haven’t done before. The script is very interesting and working in the 3D format will be a new experience for me.’

Aamir directs special promo for Delhi Belly

It’s been almost three years since Imran Khan made his memorable debut on the big screen with Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Naa under the mentorship of his uncle Aamir Khan. But till date, one thing that everyone has been waiting for is to see the Mamu-Bhanja duo share screen space together. Looks like the wait is about to get over…

Aamir and Imran have recently shot for an interactive promo for their much talked film Delhi Belly along with the two co-stars Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapur. Those who have seen the promo say that it is an extremely funny verbal exchange amongst the four. A unit member quoted, “The promo is like a conversational interplay between the actor-producer and the three guys of Delhi Belly. Aamir starts off by talking about his role as a producer and then goes to introduce the actors.”

This is the first time Aamir Khan has created a special promo for his production venture and what makes it even more special is the fact that the promo has been directed by Aamir himself.

Delhi Belly meanwhile releases all over on 1st July, 2011.

Rani the item girl in HOUSEFULL 2

Though there were talks of Rani Mukherjee doing an item number in HOUSEFULL 2, it has turned out to be a hoax call.

“After the success of NO ONE KILLED JESSICA, rumours were flying thick that Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala were very keen to bring Rani on board for a specially designed item number in HOUSEFULL 2,” informs a source, “It would have been special because in her decade long career so far, Rani has done only one item number for a film where she is not a lead actress. That was for ‘Kaali Nagin’ opposite Aamir Khan in MANN.”

What would have made this item number further special is Rani being in the same film as Akshay. Though confirmation is yet awaited on whether Akshay and other boys (John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade) would feature in the item song, it seems like a tempting preposition, especially after ‘Dhanno’ (Jacqueline, Akshay, Arjun, Riteish).
“It would have been a casting coup, albeit for just a few minutes, had Akshay and Rani come together. Can you believe it that though Akshay has practically worked with actresses across generation, Rani is the only one who has never been paired opposite him,” quips a prominent film-maker. Sajid Khan too doesn’t help the cause by stating that no one has been finalised yet for the item number.
